October 05, 2017 International Areas Real Estate Investors Should Give A Look From the New York Times to Forbes, the small Central American country of Belize has been getting a lot more attention from experts in the real estate and travel industry. Belize is one of the few countries in the world where foreigners can enjoy much of the same land and property rights as the citizens. As such, the real estate market in Belize has been steadily rising over the past 10 years and is predicted to continuously increase in value. Forbes Real Estate Council is an invitation-only organization comprised of some of the top international real estate investors in the United States. The collective recently published an article on Forbes.com listing nine of the top international countries real estate investors in the US should be looking at. Expectedly, Belize makes the list. The country is expected to see further grwoth annually in the industry due to its location, diversity and stable economy being highly attaractive to US & European investors. Location In relation to the United States, Belize is conveniently located a few hours away from major airports with the option of non-stop flights from Houston, Miami and Los Angeles to name a few. In addition, Belize is the only country in Central America where English is the language. Moreover, being a part of the British Commonwealth, there are no visa requirements for citizens of the US, EU or other Commonwealth countries. Diversity Aside from the convenience of getting to Belize, the natural wonders of the country itself is what attract hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. Belize is uniquely situated to offer both world class scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing as well as cave tubing, zip lining and Maya Ruin adventures. The country also boasts having the second largest barrier reef in the world and other World Heritage sites. Economy Most attractive feature is the tax and banking benefits for people who are looking to invest in the area, including offshore banking. There is no capital gains tax for owners and excellent tax-free packages available for retirees. Belize has a relatively low cost of living with low income and property taxes.
